The five event 2018 RC44 Championship begins where it left off in 2017 - in the Calero family’s Marina Lanzarote, in Arrecife in the Canary Islands. The RC44 Calero Marinas Cup will take place over 28 February until 4 March.
The prevailing winds in early March are 15-25 knots from the northeast, offering owners and crews the prospect of a lively start to the new season. With a winter break of just three months since they last competed there, the teams should start the new season reasonably race fit.
Hosted in Arrecife, the vibrant heart of the Island, the RC44's technical area will be based in the Calero Marinas Shipyard, the race village organised in the marina's busy Plaza Las Cruces and a race course set against the lunarscape of Lanzarote in challenging Atlantic waters.
About Calero Marinas A strategic port of call for sailors travelling south from Europe, Marina Lanzarote is the first fully serviced marina upon arriving in the Canaries. Calero Marinas Shipyard Services features an 820-tonne hoist, keel pits and specialist repair services, in addition to a wealth of shore-side leisure facilities. Ideally located right in the centre of the island’s capital Arrecife, there are shops, chandleries, bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance of the marina. www.caleromarinas.com

The RC44 Tour was an early adopter of the innovative VIP experience and offers guests the unique opportunity to experience the thrill of high-performance yacht racing from right in the middle of the action.
For selected guests, the opportunity to be onboard during racing is a once in a lifetime experience. Guests are transferred by RIB onto the RC44 where they will meet the team and take their place at the back of the boat. They then sit back and enjoy the ride as the best sailors in the world battle for their position on the race course.
The RC44 Class Association ask all guests wishing to go out on the water to bring practical shoes and a waterproof coat.
