Days after being crowned this year’s RC44 Championship Tour winner, Vladimir Prosikhin was named the 2015 Russian Sailor of the Year at an awards ceremony in Moscow.
Yacht Russia magazine and the Russian Yachting Federation (WFTU) recognised Prosikhin’s recent successes in the RC44, Melges 20 and SB20 classes in front of 800 guests at the 7th annual ‘Russian Sailor of the Year’ event held on 2 December at the Moscow State Music Theatre of Folklore.
Having been competing on the RC44 Championship Tour for almost five years, this past season has been Prosikhin’s most successful to date. The owner and helm of Team Nika has celebrated a year of firsts with the support of world-class tacticians, Dean Barker, Bill Hardesty and Ed Baird, along the way.
Taking the ‘Golden Wheels’ and the lead of 2015 RC44 Championship Tour at the RC44 Marstrand Cup in August, Team Nika went on to win the World Championship in Cascais in October and then managed to secure the overall Tour title at the RC44 Virgin Gorda Cup at the end of November.
The RC44 Class is honoured to count Prosikhin and his Team Nika as long time members of the fleet and is looking forward to another competitive season next year when the Russian team will be striving to defend its World Championship and Tour titles.
