Daniel Calero believes the reason Puerto Calero in Lanzarote is such a good venue to host world class sailing events is because the event is organised by sailors for sailors. Daniel will take the helm of the families RC44, Islas Canarias Puerto Calero, again this week and spoke ahead of the event about the week ahead.
“I think we are going to have good conditions this week, between 13 - 17 knots from the NE which means we can have good racing right in front of the marina and close for spectators to watch.

All the teams know this area and the conditions pretty well because they have been here at least four times, so we will all be at the same level, but hopefully we will do a good job and do well.
We've had a week’s practice with No Way Back (Pieter Heerema/Markus Wieser), I missed the event in Croatia, so it's good to be back on the water again with the team.

We are looking at the overall results for the tour, our ideal position would be fourth or fifth but a miracle might come and Ceeref might end up fifth and put us in third that would be amazing. For the world championship trophy the top five for us will be perfect, better if we can be in the top three.”
